Abstract

Power control using noiseless and delay-less feedback with and without channel coding over a slowly Rayleigh fading frequency nonselective channel is considered. Pilot symbol assisted modulation and a minimum mean-square error (MMSE) channel estimator were used to employ feedback MMSE power control previously in the literature. In addition to a known pilot symbol only one antipodal data symbol was included in a transmitted frame. In this paper the analysis is extended to the case where the number of data symbols in a frame is arbitrary. Also, the bit error probability of the pilot symbol system with feedback MMSE power control is derived in the case of the optimal frame size. Furthermore, the coded bit error performance for the pilot symbol system with optimal frame size using MMSE power control is arrived at through analytical bounds.
