Abstract
Abstract Two channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus with rayed adipose fins were found in an aquaculture population. One specimen was radiographed and then cleared enzymatically and stained to demonstrate cartilaginous and calcified portions of the adipose and anal fins. The adipose fin, which had 33 rays (lepidotrichia) and was supported by pterygiophores, was morphologically similar to the anal fin. The cause of the abnormal adipose fin was not determined.
