Abstract

J.O. Francis was one of the key figures and innovators of the first flowering of Welsh drama in the early twentieth century. Using his play Change (1914), this article seeks to demonstrate how stage realism transformed the Welsh stage and allowed the creation of a literary Welsh drama.
