Changing Role of Teachers in 21st Century

Abstract

In the fast changing world of the early 21st century education is also changing, as part of changes the role of schools and education will also different both in educational system and in the society. Together with them the role of teacher will also change. There's an old saying, “children are not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be lit”. The task of the teacher in current era is not just to impart content based knowledge, rather a teacher of the day has to deal with net generation who are equipped with information communication related knowledge and skills. In teaching and dealing with such type of generation the teacher of the day needs some special skills, so the role of teacher has been changed from tradition to transformational. This research article examines the role and responsibilities of teacher in 21st century classroom.
