Abstract
Near future technological development of ironmaking and steelmaking has been discussed with emphasis placed on ecological processes, products and systems for sustaining resources circulatory society. Measures to reduce CO2 emission and energy consumption are considered in terms of optimization of blast furnace operation, new ironmaking routes, processing of scrap, electric arc furnace operation with hot metal charging, refining technology for high performance steels, and waste processing using steelmaking‐related technologies.
