Abstract

The global pandemic is highlighting how work and life is changing.Changes in health, social, work, and life routines are altering skills and behaviors needed by engineers and managers. Competency models provide a job and career growth opportunities for both organizations and people and need to be updated into dynamic tools that provide direction for both people and the organizations they work in. This notebook builds from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) listing of engineering competencies to provide new findings on seventeen competencies used by civil engineers to address 2019 business challenges. Future discussions include:Field competencies and Digital competencies, Continuous versus Adaptable Competencies, and Sustainable development and responsible leadership competencies.
