Abstract
Objective To analyse age, disease category, time and regularity of visiting doctors in order to investigate composition and characteristics of disease spectrum in emergency department of Jincheng mining area. To provide a scientific basis for organization and management of materials, equipments,personnels and techniques in emergency departments. Methods Retrospective analysis of 23 069 cases information about disease spectrum in emergency department from our hospital between May 2004 and May 2009. According to gender, age, time, system diseases and injury, to list composition and sequence both emergency diseases by retrospective analysis, and to draw the graph according to the results calculated by Excel software. Results Among the emergency patients, more men than women and the high incidence age groups are 21 -40. ②Injury and digestive system diseases, nervous system diseases and respitatory diseases were the leading four kinds of diseases in emergency department, accounting for 78. 92% of emergency patients. ③Limb injury was the most common emergency injury, accounting for 44. 08% of injury. ④The frequency of emergency visits is the lowest at midnight and in the early morning and the highest was from 18 to 23 hours. ⑤The density of emergency visits was a little higher in autumn and summer than that in winter and spring, ompositions of diseases differed in different seasons, the season compositions of diseases were in accordance with disease onset regulation. ⑥The system diseases in the peak age of onset comply with the law of the incidence of the disease. Conclusions Composition of emergency disease spectrum and characteristics of time distribution is beneficial to prevention of critical illness. Focus of technical construction and direction of personnel training of emergency department should be decided according to the disease spectrum to improve diagnosis and treatment of emergency diseases.
