Abstract

The most widespread opinion concerning recrystallization of α-Zr asserts, that the main mode of taking place lattice reorientation consists in 30°-rotation about motionless basal axes. But the real situation is more complicated, since under recrystallization of α-Zr its basal axes rotate as well. The observed growth of grains with basal axes deviated from the radial direction by 30–50° is fully explained by the maximal dislocation density in these grains and is connected with growth of new grains misoriented according to deformed matrix around basal normal. The increase of the heating rate by recrystallization annealing and the presence of additional texture components prevent from rotations of the prismatic axes.
