Abstract

There has been a rather remarkable upsurge of interest in anaerobes and in the anaerobic infections in recent years. Especially Bacteroides species occupies a preeminent position in anaerobic infections, because of its frequency of isolation and its resistance to commonly used antimicrobial agents. The antimicrobial susceptibility of anaerobes against nine antibiotics has been tested for as long as ten years in our laboratory, and the changes in antibiotic patterns were observed for three periods.
