Abstract

This study develops a perennial acreage response model for orange acreage in the western United States. The model developed incorporates Brazilian orange production information to assess the extent to which changes in Brazil's production has affected western U.S. orange acreage. The results indicate that grower expectations about returns, Brazilian orange production and land value expectations had positive influences on bearing acreage changes in California and Arizona.
