Abstract

I was quite honored to be offered the opportunity to serve as the Interim Editor for Pain Management Nursing (PMN). It is an honor because of the excellent work of the founding editor, Chris Miaskowski. The journal has grown tremendously and due to her efforts the journal is listed in the Index Medicus.Let me introduce myself. I have been involved during most of the entire process of offering a certification designation. I was the chairperson of the Taskforce which designed, implemented, and analyzed the Role Delineation Study. This told us what pain management nurses do. Next the Content Expert Panel (CEP) was chosen and I was elected to serve as chairperson. We developed the test content outline and chose references that test takers can use to prepare for the examination. These are published in both the American Nurses Credentialing Center and ASPMN’s Web site. After the item writers submitted questions the CEP reviewed the results of the piloted test. I hope everyone will take the certification examination when it is offered in October.I also served on the original editorial board of PMN. It is a journal I hold close to my heart. It contributes significantly to the literature about a topic we all love. Slowly you will notice some changes. The journal will be publishing some clinical articles, columns, and, eventually, some articles for continuing education credits. Feel free to submit suggestions. It is with great pleasure that I begin this journey. I was quite honored to be offered the opportunity to serve as the Interim Editor for Pain Management Nursing (PMN).
