Abstract
The clinical features of patients with anaphylactoid purpura who were admitted to the National Tosei Hospital over the past 15 years were investigated to confirm whether the prognosis of renal involvement had improved. Of the 107 patients admitted to hospital, 43 (40.2%) had urinary abnormalities. The patients with renal involvement were older (P < 0.05) compared to patients without nephritis. Over the last 5 years (1991-95), the duration of urinary abnormalities was significantly shorter than in the period from 1981 to 1990 (P < 0.05). The duration of the urinary abnormality of nephritis complicating anaphylactoid purpura appears to be changing.
