Abstract

Accompanying the structural changes in medullary bone during the egg-laying cycle there are local increases in the concentration of soluble, citrate. Since citrate can form both soluble and insoluble compounds with calcium, it is suggested that this anion may have a regulatory function in bone apposition and resorption.
