Abstract

A fat-tolerance test has been used to measure alterations in lipid transport in normal individuals and in patients with ischemic heart disease. Serum lipoproteins and cholesterol were measured after the ingestion of 120 Gm. of butterfat. Greater elevations of the triglyceride containing Sf 20–100 and Sf 100–400 fractions were noted in patients with heart disease and in normal hypercholesterolemic individuals. The implications of these differences are discussed with relation to the presence of a basic metabolic difference in these individuals
