Abstract

This study was directed to explore the impact of salinity on growth and endurance of Nile tilapia. Different salinity levels as 6, 10, 14, 18, 22 and control were tested. Plasma cortisol, plasma glucose, osmotic pressure, and growth performance parameters were estimated throughout the experimental period of 50 days. The results revealed that growth and survival were influenced by high salinity level. Moreover, cortisol, glucose, and osmotic pressure were directly proportional to the salinity level. Therefore, it was concluded that increased salinity level influences growth and survival of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).
