Abstract
Spring water was collected at N-O in Kokubunji City, once a month since 1976. Concentration of nitrate N ranged from 455 to 645μg at·l-1. Mean annual concentration of nitrate N increased from 504μg at·l-1 in 1976 to 577μg at·l-1 in 1983 and the annual increase amounted to about 10μg at N·l-1. This suggests the increase of domestic wastes permeated in soil in the catchment area, which was estimated to be about 2×106m2.
