Abstract

Post-LP headache has always been considered to be due to “low intracranial pressure” secondary to a reduction in total craniospinal CSF volume. Previously, it has not been possible to quantitate the volume of cranial CSF lost after LP and, therefore, it has not been possible to calculate how much total intracranial CSF volume is lost 24 hr after LP [ΔtCSF(v)] or to say if this is related to the development of post LP headache.
