Abstract

A new geometric micromechanism responsible for changes in the misorientation of grain boundaries in the course of (super)plastic deformation is proposed. According to this, the misorientation changes as a result of the motion of grain-boundary disclinations accompanied by the emission of lattice dislocation pairs. Within the framework of the proposed model, the energy characteristics of the motion of grain-boundary disclinations are calculated.
