Abstract

Bitter patterns reveal marked changes in the domain structure of a Néel-cut crystal of silicon-iron when the crystal dimension perpendicular to a (110) plane is sufficiently reduced, and suggest the formation of a new structure with an energy comparable with that of the normal Néel type. Such changes in the domain configuration must be accompanied by corresponding changes in magnetic properties.
