Abstract
94,1 13,1% vs. 101,4 14,2%, p 1⁄4 0,04 and mean values of npRQ were 0,80 0,07 vs. 0,82 0,08 p1⁄40,05. Lipid oxidationwas 50,5 20,9% vs. 44,2 21,4%, p1⁄40,09, carbohydrate oxidationwas 28,1 21,2% vs. 34,6 22,3%, p1⁄40,05 and protein oxidationwas 21,4 7,8% vs. 21,2 5,7%, p1⁄40,6. Conclusion: In our group of patients, the decreased values of energy expenditure, low npRQ and preferential lipid oxidation prevailed. These findings correspond to a metabolic adaptation of the organism to a prolonged starvation. In cirrhotic patients, it caused probably by portal hypertension or ascites which let to malabsorption. Six months after TIPS insertion the metabolic rate was balanced, carbohydrate oxidation was increased and lipid oxidation was decreased. Our results indicate that TIPS insertion could also contribute to improvement of energy and substrate metabolism in cirrhotic patients. Supported by IGA MZ CR NR8419-4 and MZO 00179906.
