Abstract

In this study, biochemical responses of pistachio plants infected with a ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’ molecular variant were evaluated. Leaves of phytoplasma-infected pistachio plants exhibited significantly increased proline content and antioxidant enzyme activities, while soluble protein contents decreased when compared to those of healthy ones. Total chlorophyll contents were also reduced in phytoplasma-infected pistachio trees. The present study showed that phytoplasma presence modify the biochemicals in infected pistachio.
