Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes and significance of serum MCP-1 and TNF-α in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods The serum levels of MCP-1 and TNF-α in 32 patients with active UC,22 patients with remissive UC and 20 healthy people were examined by enzymelinked immunoabsorbent assays(ELISA).Results Serum MCP-1 and TNF-α levels were significantly increased in patients with active UC when compared with patients with remissive UC and healthy controls(P<0.05).Serum MCP-1 and TNF-α levels were significantly increased in patients with remissive UC,when compared with healthy controls(P<0.05).Conclusions Serum levels of MCP-1 and TNF-α were significantly elevated in patients with UC,they may play an importent role in inflammatory injury.Serum MCP-1 and TNF-α might be reliable markers to evaluate the degree of colon inflammatory damage in patients with UC. Key words: Ulcerative colitis; Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1; Tumor necrosis factor-α
