Abstract

The change of a field spectrum of signal light in long-haul coherent optical fibre communication systems using in-line amplifiers is measured in the normal and anomalous dispersion regions of a fibre. Results show that the interplay of nonlinear Kerr effect and fibre chromatic dispersion cause a fatal change in the field spectrum in the anomalous dispersion region.
