Abstract

Optical transmission of Ag thin films at wavelengths longer than 500 nm was found to increase due to aging. The transmission change depended significantly on the wavelength and film thickness. The spectral dependence of the transmission change has been explained in terms of the structural change of Ag discontinuous (island) films due to aging, namely increase in the island height and decrease in the occupied surface area.
