Abstract

Changes in family characteristics in South Korea are explored using data from 1970 and 1980 censuses. The focus is on living arrangements of population over age 60. The authors establish that the proportion of individuals 60 years or older living in extended family households dropped from about 71% in 1970 to 64% in 1980. (EXCERPT)
