Abstract

It is well known that heart disease is a significant health issue in Australia. Currently, coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death for both Australian men and women [1], and in 2016 it was the leading cause of death in women globally [2]. Approximately 20 women die of coronary heart disease every day in Australia [1]. To put it in context, this means almost three times as many Australian women will die of coronary heart disease compared with breast cancer [1].
