Abstract

Two case studies of the organisations of women rural workers. The experiences of the women in the Seasonal Workers' Union in Santa Maria, Chile and in the Rural Women Workers' Movement in southern Brazil provide examples of how women can begin to challenge subordinate female gender roles - at home and in the organizations they participate in - through grassroots organizing.
