Abstract

Background: Providing health services through telehomecare in addition to increasing community access to health care services, reduce the challenges of aging communities. Objectives: In this study, the implementation and development challenges of telehomecare are examined. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted with a content analysis in 2022 in Iran. Twenty-three participants were selected by purposive sampling. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Data were analyzed by content analysis (conceptual analysis) method and MaxQDA-10 software. Results: Five categories including costs imposed, rules and standards, infrastructure, health information security, and sociocultural were identified as challenges to the implementation and development of telehomecare. These five categories were divided into 19 subcategories. Conclusions: The implementation and use of telehomecare is face with several challenges. It seems that the most important reason for these challenges is related to the lack of responsible organizations and weakness in the rules.
