Abstract

Raising the capital has long been highlighted as the key factor that not only influences venture creation and survival, but it also affects its success and growth. Yet, few studies examined entrepreneurial finance and specifically entrepreneurial finance challenges. This study aims to extend our understanding of the challenges of financing ventures by systematically analyzing the empirical researches focusing on entrepreneurial finance. Some 93 papers on entrepreneurial finance were examined and 24 were selected for this analysis. The results explored three main challenges of financing new ventures including conflicts between the entrepreneur and investor, the constraints and policies they face while the implications of the findings for entrepreneurial finance research and practice are discussed as well.
