Abstract

AbstractEffective building protections against blast loading are important for the protection of people and property. This chapter summarizes existing guidelines for blast load prediction and structural design to resist blast loading effects. Different approaches for explosion source separation and isolation and their effectiveness on reducing blast loading effects on structures are presented and discussed. The blast resistance performances of structural components as well as building strengthening methodology and their effectiveness are discussed. Uncertainties in blast load prediction and reliability analysis of structures with and without strengthening measures against blast loading are presented and discussed.
