Abstract

We read with interest the article entitled ‘‘Effect of Pretreatment With Simvastatin on Spinal Cord Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats” by Hwang et al.1 They aimed to evaluate the pretreatment effect of simvastatin on spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury. They demonstrated that pretreatment with simvastatin improved the neurologic outcome and preserved motor neuron functions in a rat model of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion. We believe that these findings will enlighten further studies about the relationships of spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury.
