Abstract

This study examines the difficulties in attracting and retaining medical professionals to work in health units in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from the perspective of SUS managers. Limited access to health services, technological resources and the lack of adequate infrastructure are factors that negatively influence the attraction and retention of doctors, becoming a challenge for the municipality's health system. Solving this problem requires a multidimensional approach, considering incentives, training policies, infrastructure improvements and actions to value professionals who work in these areas.
