Abstract

The popularity of the client-server model of application development in the 1990s has led to a rapid growth in the number of computer applications for enterprise organizations around the world. The worldwide market for enterprise applications (EAs) is expected to reach $208 billion by 20201. This indicates that the enterprise software growth trend has not slowed down. However, in a recent survey,2 it was found that the time spent on mobile devices surpassed desktop web access in 2014 and the trend has only grown since. Mobile devices have become an integral part of the personal and professional lives of most people. This means that people now prefer to access not just personal, but also work-related enterprise and corporate applications via their mobile devices.
