Abstract

Sustainable manufacturing has become more important in the present day all across the world. Modern manufacturing is transitioning from traditional processes and natural resources to more sustainable practices and alternative green energy sources. Traditional techniques and natural resources produce a large amount of waste and pollution in the ecosystem. However, industries have difficulties in implementing and adapting sustainable manufacturing processes. Most manufacturing companies are unable to overcome the obstacles of sustainable manufacturing and implement its principles. The problems of achieving sustainable manufacturing are highlighted in this chapter, such as life cycle assessment difficulties, part and process design, material selection, recycling, and recovery.
