Abstract

Abstract In commemoration of thefirst 50 years of LUL&ZD, five authors will address how land-use law needs to change to meet its challenges and to realize its opportunities as we enter the new millennium. Three articles appear this month. In this issue: •Mark Wyckoff, AICP, explains the critical debates in the planning profession and the research issues that must be resolved to have better land-use laws.•Sanjay Jeer, AICP, highlights land-use trends that our land-use laws must respond to in order to be successful.•Stuart Meck, AICP, describes his experiences with LUL&ZD.•In next month's issue, Patricia E. Salkin will decipher the key political challenges that must be met to have effective planning laws.•Also next month, Eric Damian Kelly, AICP, will analyze what the priorities must be for reforming landuse laws.
