Abstract

Paper sought to explore challenges associated with the documentation and digital preservation of traditional medicine by the Traditional Medical Practitioners in Katsina State of Nigeria. Traditional Medicine is the indigenous and culturally developed response to the health problems that threaten man’s existence. Traditional medical practices are still shrouded with much secrecy, with few reports or documentations on the profession and on the other hand the adverse reactions of the medicine. In conclusion, documenting and digital preservation of traditional medical knowledge was considered the most important factor that would encourage patronisers to use the medicine and the ascendants’ of the traditional medical practitioners to continue with the practice.
