Abstract

Healthcare has always been of upmost importance in every economy. The ameliorations in science and technology have led to the proliferation and widespread use of the Internet, which combined with evolution in field of embedded systems and communication technologies can lead to improvement in the field of healthcare. Developments in the field of IoT have led to the development of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) also called Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT). The need of the hour is to ensure technological advancements conform to the sustainable computing and green computing standards set down to ensure environment safety. Adoption of “IoT,” “cloud computing,” edge and “fog computing in the healthcare sector” will lead to better green computing practices. This work aims to bring forth the applications of sustainable and green computing techniques in the field of healthcare. The fields of IoT, fog, edge and cloud computing are being applied to healthcare to promote green computing. This chapter highlights the methodologies leading to sustainable and green computing in the field by providing a roadmap used for this. With the help of case studies, the challenges faced are also put forth. Thus, it gives an overview of sustainable and green computing in healthcare.
