Abstract
As a science, the subject of ecology is relatively young, although India’s ecological concerns are rooted deep in our civilization as evidenced in Vedic literature. In the modern context, the subject has grown enormously and many potential areas have been identified. However, there are still a number of challenges and knowledge gaps. A symposium was organized to address these issues which was attended by about 250 delegates from all over the country.
