Abstract

Abstract Fungicide resistance has created many challenges to managing diseases of vegetable crops (such as powdery mildew (Podosphaera xanthii), gummy stem blight (Didymella bryoniae) and Phytophthora blight in cucurbit crops; downy mildew (Bremia lactucae) and drop (Sclerotinia minor) in lettuce; early blight (Alternaria spp.) in tomato; early blight (Alternaria solani), late blight (Phytophthora infestans), leak (Pythium ultimum), pink rot (Phytophthora erythroseptica), Fusarium dry rot and silver scurf (Helminthosporium solani) in potato) effectively, and there have been many challenges to managing fungicide resistance effectively. This chapter deals with the challenges of fungicide resistance and its management, and the occurrence of fungicide resistance in pathogens of vegetables in the USA.
