Abstract

We present new IQENS, NMR and DLS results on CH 3(CH 2) n OH ( n = 1, 7, 9). The behaviour of the translational diffusion coefficient, evaluated by IQENS and NMR, suggests that curling up effects are not present. Furthermore, IQENS and DLS reveal a slow and a fast rotational diffusive process; the former, which has been connected to the rotational tumbling of the molecule as a whole, allows to prove, through the evaluation of static correlation factor, the cooperative character of the rotation process; the latter, instead, has been connected with the fast rotational jumping of the CH 3 group.
