Abstract

The reaction of rhodium(II) pivalate (Rh2(O2CCMe3)4) with p-quinones (= p-Q: 1,4-benzoquinone and 1,4-naphthoquinone) in hexane gave chain complexes [{Rh2(O2CCMe3)4(p-Q)2}{Rh2(O2CCMe3)4}]n. The crystal structures of the complexes showed that the chains were built up by the bifunctional ligation of the p-quinones through their carbonyl oxygens and CC double bonds.
