Abstract

Five species of chaetognaths were identified from a series of plankton samples taken from inshore coastal waters off Delaware in the fall, winter, and spring of 1960–1961. They wereSagitta serratodentata, S. elegans, S. minima, S. hispida, andS. tenuis. All exceptS. tenuis had previously been reported from the waters of the Delaware Bay region. This collection constitutes a northward extension of the known range ofS. tenuis. There are now seven species known to occur in Delaware coastal waters, includingS. enflata andS. helenae, warm-water species not taken in the present study.
