Abstract

The cyclometallated platinum(II) complex of 1,1,2,2-tetraacetylethane (dahd 2− = 3,4-diacetyl-2,4-hexadiene-2,5-diolate dianion), [Pt(dahd-C 3, O′)(L 2)] [L = PMe 2Ph; L 2 = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (bdpe)], reacts with the monosubstituted acetylene, phenyl acetylene, activating its CH bond to afford a new bis(σ-alkynyl) platinum(II) complex (L = PMe 2Ph, trans form; L 2 = bdpe, cis form) in good yield.
