Abstract
The early review of this ternary system by [1988Ray] presented liquidus projections corresponding to the stable and metastable equilibria in the Fe-C system, isothermal sections at 1000, 982, 927, 900, 871 and 700 C for the metastable equilibrium with cementite, isothermal sections at 1800 and 1200 C for Mo-rich alloys and vertical sections at 0.4, 0.48, and 1.16 mass% Mo. An update by [1994Rag] reviewed the thermodynamic analysis of the system by [1988And] and the experimental results of [1991Sch]. A second update by [2002Rag] presented a liquidus projection for Fe-rich alloys from the work of [1995Gir]. Recently, a full review of the system was carried out by [2008Vel]. The phase distribution in melt-spun alloys was investigated by [2010Vel]. Very recently, [2011Vel] determined a solidus surface in the C-lean region of the system, which will be reviewed here briefly.
