Abstract

The rewetting is the process of re-establishment of coolant with hot surfaces. This rewetting characteristic influence on cooling of nuclear rod bundles was conducted using CFD-CFX code. The numerical results are compared with experimental result and achieved good agreement. The present study intended in the prediction of rewetting behavior in rod bundle. It is observed that the rewetting behavior was significantly affected by phase distribution. It is seen that the peak rewetting temperature appears in the vapor region. The wetting delay is negligible at inlet section, but longer period is observed in others section of the rod bundle. It was noted that the complication of rewetting regimes is due to the uneven and irregular flow of coolant which affect re-establishment of coolant into hot surface.
