Abstract

This research is to use CFD method to analyze the Architectural Institute of Japan(AIJ) Benchmark case of gas diffusion using different Schmidt number and turbulence model, then discuss their influence on the velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and gas concentration distributions around the building. By the comparison of CFD simulation results and wind tunnel experiment results, the gas's turbulent Schmidt number is confirmed to have no influence on the air flow. The change of gas's turbulent Schmidt number has little influence on the vertical distribution of gas concentration along the Z coordinate but has significant influence on the horizontal distribution of gas concentration along the Y coordinate in the region near to the building. Suga's cubic non-linear k-ε model is found to have high prediction accuracy for gas diffusion and the influences of turbulence models on the velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and gas concentration are mainly in the region near to the building.
