Abstract

A numerical inspection based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, with a single phase approach, has been carried out to study and compare the convective heat transfer and pressure drop of nanofluid flowing through a straight tube and a helical coil. The nanofluid consists of CuO nanoparticles, with the average diameter of 50 nm and Particle weight concentrations of 0.5, 1, and 2% dispersed in oil as a base fluid. Using the modeling results, four correlations were developed to estimate the Nusselt number and friction factor, based on the dimensionless numbers. The results showed that the modeling data were in good agreement with experimental data.
