Abstract

With cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a surfactant, a series of palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) with various morphologies were successfully synthesized by controlling the concentrations of CTAB and NaBH 4 in an aqueous solution. The morphology of the Pd NPs evolved from nanospheres as interconnected networks with a rise in the CTAB concentration. The CTAB and NaBH 4 concentrations were important factors for the control of the final shape of the Pd NPs. Using a combination of different CTAB and NaBH 4 concentrations, we obtained Pd nanoparticles (NPs) with various morphologies like spheres, worm-like and nanowire networks in an aqueous system. The CTAB and NaBH4 concentrations were important factors in controlling the final shape of the Pd nanoparticles.
