Abstract

The cervical stabilization-traction board is a device for easy, immediate, immobilization of the injured cervical spine at the accident site. The patient's trunk is fixed to a rigid board by straps that do not encumber thoracic or abdominal structures. Movable blocks to which is secured a halter sling stabilize and distract head and neck in the position. These structures are found in all age groups. Roentgenograms may be taken with the device in place. No secondary transfers are necessary until definitive therapy is instituted.
