Abstract
Well-known problems in technical product testing are lack of reproducibility of test methods and performance differences between “identical” products (also referred to as the sampling problem). The Dutch certification institute IVHA has incorporated these phenomena in its consumer information system in such a way that they can be dealt with adequately. A number of principles in the IVHA approach are also applicable to comparative testing and informative labelling. An active dialogue with suppliers is an important element in the IVHA approach.
